Choice of golf courses close to the Luberon
During your vacation in the Luberon, your choice of golf course may well depend on your choice of location (Gordes, Ménerbes, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Murs, Joucas, Roussillon, Lourmarin, etc..). To help you make that choice, here's a quick summary of what you'll find:
If you are staying on the north side of the Luberon, around the area of Gordes the nearest 18-hole course is undoubtedly the Provence Country Club. This golf club is located near the village of Saumane between Fontaine de Vaucluse (commonly known as the source of the Sorgue, giving it's name to the department ) and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue , a small town close to the Luberon, abundant with antique shops.
If you are staying on the south side of the Luberon, around the area of Lourmarin, the nearest golf course is the Golf de Pont Royal, not far from Aix-en-Provence. This golf course - designed by Severiano Ballesteros - is ranked among the top European golf courses and is worth a visit even if you are staying in the north Luberon.
If you arestaying near the Alpilles, Saint-Remy, Egalières or Les Baux de Provence, you will be close to several other golf courses: The Golf des Baux, a superb nine-hole golf course and the Golf de Servanes, an 18 hole course directly over the Alpilles or the Golf de Montpellier and the Golf de Nimes-Vacquerolles.
If you staying near Avignon, you can easily reach the Golf du Grand Avignon.
Finally, if distance does not bother you, a little further away you will find the Golf de Marseille La Salette, the Golf de la Sainte-Baume, the Golf de Château L'Arc, the Golf de Sainte-Maxime, the Golf de Barabaroux, the Golf de St. Endréol, the Golf de Valescure, the Golf de Valegarde or the Golf de Roquebrune.
