Present in the whole Luberon, the hawthorne is a fruit tree from the mediterranean countries, belonging to the family of the Rosaceae.
Often grafted onto a thorny, it gives small orange berry-like small apples called "haws", "Azeroles" or colloquially "cheekbone". Its fruit, fragrant and tangy, can make delicious jams (allow about 60 grams of hawthorn 45 grams of sugar), but also for juice because the pulp is rich in flavonoids, vitamin A and vitamin C.
The soils of the Luberon provide no downside to this plant that supports limestone and drought. It requires no special maintenance, except it needs a sunny exposure (easy Luberon) to grow well.
