The hamlet of Les Imberts is the largest hamlet in the municipality of Gordes. It was built on the edge of the village, near Cabrières d'Avignon, between the old Provence which includes Gordes, and the Comtat Venaissin which belonged to the Popes. The current path of the parties, to the West of the hamlet, traces the old limit.
Several anecdotes about the hamlet of Les Imberts are worth mentioning:
* On the Cassini map, while simple hamlets are not that size, Les Imberts are shown the same size as villages such as Cabrières (d’Avignon) or Goult. This suggests some significance for this hamlet.
* Although the hamlet had never been invaded, thanks to its position and its fortifications, Les Imberts have been hit several times.
* In 1777, Les Imberts became religiously independent with a separate parish, but the hamlet, despite several attempts, will always "administratively" remain dependent of the village of Gordes.
In Les Imberts, one can find a church from the late eighteenth century (finished in 1792), a chapel from 1730, a cemetery, several old houses with beautiful porches, a few narrow streets, but also a nursery school, a day nursery, two professional football pitches and the last petrol station of the village.
