In 2002, Regis MATHIEU has installed his workshop in Gargas, in an old factory, its walls tinted with red ocher. With his team of twenty people, he restores, reissues and creates spectacular and unique antique chandeliers.
His fame has spread worldwide. His expertise is such that he can restore old chandeliers and other light settings created since the XVIIth century.
His clients are prestigious: the Opera Garnier, the Château de Versailles ( especially for the Galerie des Glaces), the Farnese Palace in Rome or the Music Academy of Philadelphia ...
In the workshop, thousands of components in rock crystal or glass of the chandeliers, the lanterns and the lights being restored, demonstrate accuracy and attention to details. A very meticulous work that takes place in constant agreement with the clients and where the documentary research, archival documents play a key role ensuring identical restoration.
Régis Mathieu is also a designer, creating contemporary pieces: precious lights, waves, cubes, shining moons, bright drops. The Lustrerie Mathieu creates the splendor in our time.
It is also a place of culture, confidential small museum for insiders, the story of a man with a unique know-how that takes over his father's workshop, a factory lighting Scandinavian paces. These modern pieces are still produced and have a special place in the workshop as a tribute to his father.
Design permeates throughout the space between a library full of dedicated books, vases signed Gaetano Pesce and vintage furniture. All elements mixing together with taste.
