Maubec, a village between Robion and Oppède in the Luberon

Maubec, Luberon

Maubec is a rather quiet village between Robion and Oppède, in the Luberon.

There is a church from the seventeenth century which was built to replace another church where cult had been banned from 1745 due to a major lack of maintenance.

On the hill, where the "historic center” of the village is, there are several old houses and a neo-Renaissance castle built in the last century by a lover of this type of architecture. There is also a quite beautiful belfry, some vestiges of the old fortifications, etc.

Maubec is also the most important part of Coustellet, place almost unavoidable when one moves to the bottom of the Calavon / Luberon valley. Coustellet (or Coustelet) is a group of villages including Cabrières d’Avignon and Robion, then by extension, Lagnes Oppède and Gordes.

Taking Coustellet as a whole, there are many shops, banks, restaurants, weekly and summer markets, a distillery, a high school, a recycling center, garages, hairdressers, pool experts, materials dealers, a museum dedicated to lavender, a supermarket, and many more!
