The hilltop village of MENERBES

The village of Menerbes is one of the most beautiful villages of France , in the " golden triangle of the Luberon ." It is perched on a hill side of the Luberon. The village offers various hangouts. In its well preserved streets, you can admire beautiful facades, mansions renovated with care.

A House of truffles and wine from Provence was founded in the village, promulgating the wines of the Luberon Regional Nature Park (60 winemakers, 180 wines ) and truffles, Vaucluse department is the largest producer of black truffles.

In the village or nearby, you can discover :
The Castelet, a small castle built in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, on the ruins of an ancient fortress.
The citadel of the XIIIth century ( but rebuilt in the XVIth century and the XIXth century), played an important role during the wars of religion  if the Calvinists took it in 1753 , it was by stealth , to dislodge them five years later, the had to pay a ransom.

 The museum corkscrew with over 1,000 pieces.

Between Menerbes and Lacoste, hillside and facing the Luberon, the abbey of Saint -Hilaire , a XIIIth century has been classified historical monument .
