The castle is located on the heights of the village of Lacoste.

Afetr belonging to the family Simiane, it owes its fame to the family of Sade and the "Divin Marquis" who lived several years in 1769-1772. He built a theater for 120 spectators.
During the Revolution, the castle was partially destroyed. Materials sold for other constructions.
After the Revolution, the castle was sold to Rovere, MP Bonnieux Vaucluse. Then in 1816, badly damaged the castle was sold to Pierre Grégoire, carpenter and farmer. In 1952, André Bouer, teacher, buys it and starts its restoration.
Since August 1992, the castle is "historical monument".
In 2001, Pierre Cardin purchases the Castle and began its restoration.
Every summer, he organizes the music festival Lacoste.
